WINTER NIGHT SHELTER VOLUNTEER TRAINING SESSION

Monday 4 December, 7.30 pm

Every year from October to May Homeless Action in Barnet works in partnership with Together in Barnet providing a Winter Night Shelter for 15 adults who are sleeping rough on the street of Barnet.  The shelters are provided by a number of different synagogues and churches throughout the borough all run by volunteers.

We are holding a Volunteer Training Session on Monday 4 December for those members who would like to get involved with this initiative.

Dates

Night Shelter 2018 will run from Monday 15 January to Monday 26 March 2018.

Volunteer Roles

There are many ways you can volunteer with Night Shelter. People with a wide variety of skills and availability are needed to make this initiative a success.

We need help as follows:

  • cooking a vegetarian starter, main course or dessert for 20 people
  • setting up and serving the evening meal (1830-2200)
  • supervising the night shift (2145—0700)
  • preparing and serving breakfast (0630—0830-0900)
  • transporting items to next venue in Barnet by 1000 on Tuesday mornings

We are looking for enthusiastic, caring, non-judgemental, empathetic people to work as a team, with a keen interest in and a desire to support this vulnerable group in our community.
