Thirty-five years ago, my wife and I joined the synagogue. We found the community very welcoming. Following the Bar and Bat Mitzvah of our two children we continued coming to Shabbat Morning services and after a while I was approached and asked if I would like to be a warden. The rest, as they say, is history. Along the way we’ve made friends and the community has been there for us in sad and happy times.
Our role as Warden is to assist the Service Leader; on Shabbat and the Chaggim we ask people if they would like an aliyah, to open/close the ark or carry the scroll/do hagbah. We try and offer Mitzvoth to members who have a Yahrzeit and liaise with parents before their children’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah. On Friday nights/Erev Chaggim our able team are also on duty.
We would welcome more members to join our happy team so please contact me via the Synagogue Office on 020 8445 3400 if you are interested and would like to know more about becoming a warden.
